Old Naugatuck

History of Naugatuck, Connecticut through post cards

Most of these postcards were found on the eBay auction site.  Rather than let the cards sit in a photo album, I decided to feature them in a web site.

CodeRED EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

Seconds Count In An Emergency!

The Borough of Naugatuck has instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System - an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone specific areas of the Borough in case an emergency situation requires immediate action (such as chemical spill emergency, missing child or evacuation notices).

The system is capable of dialing up to 60,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an answering machine.  The system also works with TDD\TTY systems.

THIS SYSTEM WILL ONLY BE USED FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES.

Examples of times when the CodeRED system could be used:

  • Evacuation notice & route
  • Missing person
  • Fires or Floods
  • Bomb threat
  • Hostage situation
  • Chemical spill or Gas leak
  • School emergencies

The system uses phone numbers from several commercial sources.  You can add you own cell phone and VoIP numbers.  The only requirement is the number must be connected to a Naugatuck address.
